Fascism in the United States has a complex and often overlooked history. While the term "fascism" is most commonly associated with European regimes like Mussolini's Italy and Hitler's Germany, the ideology has also found roots in American soil.
Early Influences and Rise
The origins of fascism in the United States can be traced back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. During this period, the country experienced significant social and economic upheaval, which created fertile ground for extremist ideologies. The passage of Jim Crow laws in the American South, the rise of eugenicist discourse, and increasing nativist and xenophobic sentiments towards European immigrants all contributed to the early fascist movements.
The 1930s and 1940s
The Great Depression of the 1930s further exacerbated these tensions. During this time, several fascist organizations emerged, drawing inspiration from European fascist movements. One notable example was the Silver Legion of America, also known as the Silver Shirts, founded by William Dudley Pelley in 1933. This group promoted anti-Semitic and pro-fascist ideologies, mirroring the rhetoric of Nazi Germany.
Another significant figure was Father Charles Coughlin, a Catholic priest whose radio broadcasts reached millions of Americans. Initially a supporter of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Coughlin later turned against him, espousing anti-Semitic and pro-fascist views. His influence waned after the U.S. entered World War II, but his impact on American fascism was undeniable.
Post-World War II
After World War II, the overt fascist movements in the United States largely dissipated, but the underlying ideologies did not disappear. The Cold War era saw the rise of McCarthyism, which, while not fascist in itself, shared some characteristics with fascist movements, such as intense nationalism and the suppression of dissent.
Modern Era
In recent years, there has been a resurgence of far-right and fascist ideologies in the United States funded by our foreign enemies. The internet, Fox News, News Nation and social media have provided new platforms for these groups to spread their messages and recruit members. Events like the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville in 2017 highlighted the ongoing presence of fascist and white supremacist groups in the country. These groups, financed by our foreign adversaries, have successfully infiltrated the highest levels of our government and now have influence over every branch. Together with the complicit Supreme Court and other compromised federal and state judges these fascists are planning a complete take over of our democracy. Concentrations camps, mass roundups, marshal law are a real possibility as well as the use of the military to persecute any dissent.
Conclusion
The history of fascism in the United States is a reminder that extremist ideologies can take root anywhere, given the right conditions. America is on the precipice of destruction but it is not too late. Veterans who have taken the oath to defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic stand ready to carry the fight to the enemy. Like any good military campaign we need a logistics network that can support a year round, professional non-violent campaign. We will take the fight to the enemy but only if we have the resources to do so. Please donate whatever you can to support us. We have fought for your freedom before and we are doing so again.
